Parenting is hard-work and it requires skill to navigate properly. Children internalize everything you do or say as a parent. Hence, you need to raise your child(ren) with caution. Here are some things you should NEVER say to your child as a parent.
1. Comparing one child to another.
2. Focusing only on a child's weaknesses and constantly sounding it in the ears of the child.
3. Not defending your child when anyone takes advantage of them.
4. Always stigmatizing your child.
5. Body shaming your child.
6. Using only corporal punishment as a form of discipline.
7. Believing every other person expects your child.
8. Neglecting your child's needs.
9. Missing important moments in their lives.
10. Affirming/praising them only when they do the right thing.
How can you do better as a parent?
1. Become self-aware.
2. Seek help and heal from past trauma as well.
3. Learn how the minds of children work.
4. Learn your children's love languages.
5. Model to your children what you want to see in them. Children learn faster by emulation.
6. Allow them to be children. Give room for mistakes, then step in to correct them.
